So, I got ClearCase 4.2 and I followed the instructions given to me by the
fine folks at Rational and rebuilt the kernel as follows:
1) Save your .config
2) do "make distclean"
3) Restore the .config
4) Build.
I then installed 4.2 (nice job, btw, it will do the mvfs relink for you)
and it's been up for three hours now with no problem.
Apparently, there was/is a bug in the RH7.1 distribution where a header
file (modules.h) is included when it is supposed to be generated. The
"make distclean" removes that header file and will cause it to be
regenerated correctly.
