Bernard,

I would give ClearCase 4.2 a couple of months prior to making a decision on
which version to upgrade. Let everyone else find the problems and give
Rational time to produce patches and then upgrade to 4.2.

I am planning on moving from CC 4.0 to CC 4.2 in November.

I remember way back when where I upgraded from 1.1.5 to 2.0 the last week I
was with a company. Everything went well and no problems arose from the
upgrade. This was back when it was Atria, prior to the Pure Software merger
and the Rational gobbling.

Thanks
Bert Robbins

Are there any reasons NOT to move to 4.2? We are upgrading one of our
facilities soon and there is
debate over 4.1 vrs. 4.2. Stability is a main issue.

Also, another question...

Is anyone aware of 3rd party or home-grown tools that do accurate code
counting and differencing calculations
inside of Clearcase (comparing one labeled version to another, for
instance). Any info would be appreciated as
we have looked a Kracatoa (SP?) and are not pleased with the results.

Thanks,

Bernie Miller
