|Does anyone have a script/way to get ClearCase to insert the element
|version-extended name as the first line in files? At least text (source,
|script) files.

Stephen,

The first question is WHY? As has been hashed over many times on
this list, doing so causes problems with merging AND the information may
be obtained very easily through ClearCase.

IF you want to stamp files like stored procedures or database
triggers you deliver; then putting the version (somehow) into them makes a
great deal of sense. EVEN for this I would not actually put it into the
files themselves but would use ONE LABEL to identify all scripts etc.
released with a particular version. Of course this necessitates a process
for updating the version info at updates/patches.
