We are also running Sun and have seen many problems with removing
views. For reasons I don't quite understand, .nfs files get created
at the root of the view storage. A cleartool rmview will abort
if such files exist.

I dealt with Rational support on this issue for several months. They
finally advised my to take the problem up with Sun. Since the nfs man
page says that .nfs files can get created under certain circumstances,
I knew taking the problem to Sun was a useless exercise.

Fortunately, I provide my users with a view management Perl script.
On UNIX, while removing a view, the script now finds and unlinks any
.nfs files it finds in the root of view storage. The subsequent
cleartool rmview operation now works.
