RE: [cciug] ClearCase 4.2 Tier II released...

If you encounter problems with approval for any Rational mail lists, you may
have to open a support ticket. I went through a long process just to get
back on this list. It appears that the automatic approval was disabled.
And when I sent a message to the owner, that message was never seen. After
submitting a support ticket, the problem was resolved within an hour. The
owner of the cciug mailing list said that he approved my request and enabled
the automatic approval mechanism. It took two weeks to get back on this
list and I'd still be waiting if I didn't submit a ticket.

I am not sure if this has been fixed or not. But when I joined the list back
in May. I did not get approved for the list until June.

Who knew there was a special list for patch mail?
I would think that they would want all cciug'ers to
know.

I will check the rational site for how to join it.
thanks

Strange. I get notified about patches. I joined the ClearCase patch mailing
list. The last mailing was Friday July 20th, 2001.

I never see anything from rational regarding releases,
whether it is a new version or a patch. Even nothing
        regarding MANDATORY patches.

Back when clearcase was owned by ATRIA I used to see the
notifications in email. I can't recall if it was sent to
users or to cciug, but notification happened.

It would be nice if RATIONAL would do that once more.

I do see patch recall notices though ....

        my two cents

I just noticed that according to the Rational web sites, ClearCase 4.2
for Tier II platforms was released on Monday (23 July). I didn't see
anything here about it so I thought I'd mention it.

Unfortunately the download site appears to be broken for Red Hat; the
link on the page that says it points to the Red Hat release actually
points to the OSF release :-/. But, after you click on it you can edit
the URL to contain the right filename.

Also unfortunately, for some reason I can't download these things from
work any more: I always get an error trying to log in to the FTP server
:(

I had to log in to one of my remote accounts, download it to there, then
scp it from there to work. What a hassle.

But, I've got it now so we'll see if this version works better than
4.1+patches with my Linux 2.4.2-2 kernel!
