I've had a lot of luck running a combination of Cygwin and 4NT.

I use Cygwin myself.

Just go to:

http://sources.redhat.com/cygwin/

And download it.

Less expensive than MKS (no charge)
AND better yet, no hassle with Legal dept (over license)
and Pucchasing dept, and getting mgt to sign up for
more licenses, and tracking the licenses...

It's not perfect, but consider what it is running on top of...
Definately makes Windows less anemic.

By the way, NT 4.0 Resource Kit does supply many UNIX commands and they work
in a native NT shell instead of creating another shell...

Never liked MKS implementation very much. Shell and other tools seem to
not be very compatible with UNIX tools; try redefining PATH variable
from command line, vi puts windows EOL in files, etc.

But I could probably say the same about any ported environment that has
to run on a Windows platform.
