Yes , this problem is random and the vob owner and the login userid ( when
running the build) are same,
I think as you said I have to see for some patch information about latest
patches .
Thanks and regards.

Nagalakshmi,
You might check on the ownership of the elements you are building with. If
it's a random problem, it's likely your machines are configured correctly.

There is a user variable that you can setup called CLEARCASE_PRIMARY_GROUP.
This can be used on each client machine to designate their primary group for
clearcase. If you run creds.exe it should show you what group is setup as
your primary group.
You should also check to see if you have all of the clearcase patches
installed on your server and all clients. I think that NT should also be at
SP6 but you can verify that at the rational website.

Hi Cheryl,
I set up the primary group in usermanager for domains on the domain
controller primary group of each user who is going to access our VOB is
Clearusers group. On the same client some times only error comes with the
same userid.
Thanks and regards.

Hi,
Have you checked to see if the CLEARCASE_PRIMARY_GROUP is setup? You can
also verify this by running a utility called "creds". It's located in the
c:\program files\rational\clercase\etc\utils directory. I hope this helps.

Hi,
I am working with clearcase 4.1 , VOb server windows2000 and clients NT 4.0
when I am trying to do the build on cleant mechine some times I am getting
the error
> > > clearmake: Error: Vob server operation "Create Container" failed.
> > > Additional information may be available in the vob_log on host
""
> > > clearmake: Error: Unable to create a container in vob
"", because group "NOBODY" not in vob's group list.
> > > clearmake: Warning: Unable to promote derived object ""
Everyday I am doing builds, this error we are getting some times only in
some mechines.
I found in technotes I saw some solution on unix mechines like this:
On the machine on which you are running clearmake, and on the vob
server, try looking in the /var/adm/atria/cache/ClearCase_check
directory for a file whose name is identical to the user's login
name. See if an "ls -l" on this file shows the old group or the new
group for its group ownership. If the file shows the old group,
delete the file and try to run clearmake again. The file should be
regenerated with the correct gid information.
Did Any one come across this kind of error.. what is the solution on NT side
for this kind of error.
I am sure the person who is running the build is in the vob group.
Thanks and regards.
