We have four sites and each site replicates to all other sites. For each site, we are considering introducing local backup replica servers.
With minimal impact on the normal schedule options (i.e. using sync_export_list -all) and minimising the inter-site traffic, how can we easily import the same packets in parallel/series on the backup VOB servers (in separate ClearCase regions)?
Initially, I thought we could modify the options so that they import and recycle the packet en ROUTE to their "next" (backup?) destination. Technically, this seems possible and is described under the options on sync_receive but how to do this practically seems lacking an example in the manuals. My interpretation of this solution is that this means we should ROUTE all packets via the backup server on each site (in another ClearCase region) and somehow (?) use -data <outgoing bay> and -actual on this sync_receive receipt_handler for this intermediate "shipping" server.
Anyone, any experience of using this recycle mechanism and what scripts/options they changed?
