You can do this without being root. I scripted this once..
Right after creating the VOB do this:
1) unmount the VOB if mounted
2) stop the VOB server process for that VOB
3) cd to {vobstorege}/.identity
4) you will see several files.
.gid (leave it alone - this is the primary group)
.uid (leave it alone - this is the owner)
.group.number (where number is the gid for a supplemental group)
.group.number (where number is the gid for another supplemental
group)
5) remove the group.number files that offend you..
6) remount your VOB
Do not do this on VOBs that were used as they might have elements that are
owned by supplemental groups at that time.
Do not try to change the primary group this way.
