Kevin,

Try your magic file... grep for the element type..
don't forget that it is not just the name that is important... clearcase
will also type on the contents.
i.e. it looks for patterns in the first block in the contents of the file
as well...

cleartool man cc.magic
or
cleartool man default.magic
