Brandon,
It is slow as it is based on cleartool find. any one who has ever asked me
has been told that I frequently use a version by Paul Smith that is faster
(but misses one case - or did at that time). The one at the site is slower
but caught the case. If it is to slow for anyone then they will remove it
or ask me about it - and I give the faster solution, but only after telling
them the trade off. Since it is a pubic place, we though it best to place
the SAFE version not the FAST version.
Many companies have smaller VOBs and it is fast enough for them. Newbies
frequently have smaller VOBs and can stomach the speed, but cant' stomach
what to do when a duplicate slips by. When The trigger there serve as
examples for all and everyone is always welcomed to add or improve
them. The reference to the code was hardly the meat of the email, I
believe the solution he was most interested in was how to get a solution
for multisite. Which he got.
As far as a fast algorithm, I have written one that is included in a tool
that will be released next week. The release notes are here (thanx Brandon):
http://www.abs-consulting.com/ReleaseNotes20.zip I'm sure it will move
quick enough for you. In the mean time If you have a version significantly
different than Paul's or mine, I'd like to see it.

Charles,
Please stop promoting this trigger that you have on your web site. It
is ridiculously slow and not fair to unsuspecting newbies that come
along and try to make use of this algorithm for preventing evil twins.
You need to either develop a better algorithm or remove the script
altogether so that nobody else is affected.
