There has to be a way. It is inexcusable for them to tell you you are
SOL. Loss of an admin vob should under no circumstances destroy a
production vob. They need to supply you with a patch that will bypass the search
for process guards.
Better yet, they should supply everyone a patch that will allow a VOB
to be unlocked even if the admin VOB is missing. All it has to do is
put out BIG warnings.
Hmmm... I think if you can get a copy of ClearCase 3.2 or earlier, that
test for process guards may not be there. You could restore the VOB
onto such a system, remove the hyperlink, take a backup, and then restore
the backup to your production system.
But in any event, this is one of the many reasons not to use an admin
vob. Even if it means you can't use UCM.

| HELP!!!!
|
| One of our VOBs (Test_aad.vbs) used to be linked to an Admin VOB that
| no longer exist. When the Admin VOB was removed, the Test_aad VOB was
| locked. Now, we can't break the link to the Admin VOB because it is
| locked (no write operations allowed), and we cannot unlock the VOB
| because it cannot find the Admin VOB (can't locate the VOB ID the
| Admin VOB had; hence unable to search for process guards????). We DO
| NOT have any backups for the Admin VOB, so a restore is out of the
| question. Any suggestions?
|
| Here is some output that may help you help me (we have only one domain
| in our environment, and I was logged in as the owner of the VOB and

| I tried calling Technical Support today. The answer I received was
| "...well, you are SOL if I don't have a backup of the Admin VOB."
|
| Thank you very much in advanced for any help you can provide.
