Hi Rob,
As far as I know, doing it manually instead of using rgy_backup and
rgy_switchover works for CC 4.0 but not CC4.1.
On the new registry server, do you set it to be master? On the client
host, which you try to create vob, do you switch the registry server to the
new one? And remove the master entry from your old registry?

Subject: [cciug] Registy problems
Hello all,
Sorry to ask a question so late in the day, but I am hoping someone
might have a clue to the problem I am having. We just switched registry
servers. To do that, I uninstalled and re-installed ClearCase on the new
machine, chosing to make it it's own registry server as part of the
installation. I copied over the old machines rgy directory prior to
uninstalling and chose to keep the var area when the uninstall asked if I
wanted to. Thus when the install occured, I reused the old rgy files for
it.
I have no problems accessing entities that were in the rgy files
(vobs and views) prior to the switch, but now I am finding that if I
generate a new vob on my new server, I can make the vob and the tag, but
when I mount and try to enter it, I get a message saying "Access is Denied".
I should mention that I generated the vob on a machine that was not the
registry server, but did have the new server and region selected in the
Control Panel portion of the Home Base.
After much experimentation I found that I could access the vob only
if I actually created it while physically on the registry server. What I do
not understand is why that is the case? What would cause me to not have
access to vobs that were made while on another machine - a machine in the
same network region (domain) as the old reg. server and the new reg. server?
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
