1. True, you can go straight to 4.1
2. You do not need to de-install, just install on
top
3. Better remote storage pool control. Do you have
remote storage pools? If not, don't worry about it.
4. Feature level and vob db schema level are two
different animals. You do not need to go to schema
54 to get the new feature level
5. I don't have an example for you right now.

Subject: [cciug] 3.2.1 upgrade to 4.1 questions
1. Section 1.7 "Upgrading from a Previoius Clearcase Release" of the 4.1
Release notes
made me believe that I can upgrade directly from 3.2.1 to 4.1. (without
going to 4.0 first)
True or false?
2.Section 1.9 "Known issues related to installation", it says to NOT
deinstall clearcase 3.x on the
REGISTRY server host. But all my servers are on 1 machine. Still applies? I
don't see any reason
why not.
3. Section 2.5: "Server Storage Location" what is this?
I don't see anything new in this wrapper concept. Please enlighten me.
Page 25:
"When you create a view or a VOB, you can now specify the name of a storage
location ..."
What problem(s) does this solve?
4. Section 3 What's new in Multisite
Section 3.1 "NOTE: Before you can enable requests for branch mastership
you must raise the feature level of the VOB family to feature level 2".
Feature level 2 is CC 4.x. Does this imply that Vobs have to be reformated?
I do not think so, since replicated vobs can both be of the old schema.
5. Section 5.8 "Do not use MultiSite to Clone a VOB",
and that's "because the VOB UUID is identical for all replicas of a vob
famil,
and is stored in many structures ...".
Would someone illustrate the vob uuid of replicas in 3.2.1 and 4.1 please,
with an output of lsreplic (I think).
I don't have multisite, but will soon.
