We have NFS Maestro used here. It seem pretty good once in place but then the
setting up is a bit of a nightmare what if mismatching UNIX and NT accounts plus
some DOMAIN issues on the NT side. Now the NT clients can access UNIX
VOBs/views.
We've pretty much have been a pure UNIX dev env but then now we're starting to
have NT clients (with Java) accessing the UNIX VOBs/views. With NFS maestro,
the overhead of maintenance is growing with the number of clients/users you need
to support. Each NT workstations and user has to be properly setup. Exceed is
just a terminal emulator to access a UNIX machine so still you do UNIX ClearCase
there. Same system overhead concerns with Exceed.
But there is another alternative - TotalNet's SMB and Samba
I don't really have a point of comparison with the likes of TAS and Samba
(though Rational declines supporting Samba because it's like Freeware). These
two (TAS and Samba) are pretty good (better) ClearCase Interop implementation
since all you need to do is have these running on the UNIX server and whoala! -
all the NT clients can now talk to the UNIX server. So here the overhead of
setup is minimal if none at all.
Hope that helps!

Hey guys,
Has anyone used NFS maestro or Exceed with their ClearCase? If so, how
does it work and how do you use it? Do you think one is better than the other
if you want to interop your UNIX and NT platforms????????? Help...
