RE: [cciug] ClearCase Explorer

Marilyn,

I apologize for being unclear. The tool basically has three major windows
within it: the "folder pane" which contains the tree control, the "shortcut
pane" and the main client area (by default, it's on the right and contains
the list of elements). The tree control is rooted at the view root and
contains what you'd expect. The main client area contains the list of
elements (or UCM activities) and possibly an html page. When looking at a
list, there is, by default, a splitter in which the bottom half contains an
html page which hopefully gives you pointers to useful help topics. You can
remove this "page" as mentioned earlier (view->information pane). There are
also times when the main client area contains just an html page. That is
true when the tool first starts since it doesn't know what view to use until
you select one. Finally, the "shortcut pane" is that pea-soup colored window
with the tabs. The two tabs at the bottom (views and toolbox) are the
outer-most. Views contains all of your view shortcuts. Toolbox contains you
Homebase-like tool shortcuts plus the html informational content just
described. You can create view shortcuts by clicking on the "Views" tab at
the bottom, and right clicking in the pea-soup area. You'll get the context
menu. You can do the same in the toolbox page where you can create tool or
URL shortcuts. Clicking on any of the "bars" on each page shows shortcuts in
specific groups of views or tools. Finally, clicking on a shortcut makes it
your "current view", which is retained between invocations.

All shortcuts are retained between invocations of the tool. The operation in
which all of your views are turned into shortcuts happens only the first
time you use the tool and when you choose the menu "View->Refresh view
shortcuts", primarily because it is expensive to do each time you start, the
shortcuts persist, and because when you create new views within the app, the
shortcut(s) is/are created automatically.
