RE: [cciug] SAMBA problem?

FYI,

I ran performance tests on recent versions of SaMBa, DiskAccess, and TAS
TotalNet. DiskAccess (NFS) and TAS (SMB) were about 2 times faster than
SaMBa concerning most view functions (i.e. create element, checkin, builds).
For snapshot views, I highly recommend CCFS. CCFS is just as fast as
anything else you can buy. For dynamic views, I recommend purchasing a
SMB/NFS product if performance is a high-priority and your company is
willing to pay for it. By the way, if you do purchase a SMB/NFS product,
that doesn't mean you have to disable CCFS. Keeping CCFS enabled offers a
good load balancing even when using a SMB/NFS solution. My company chose to
take the TAS route. Syntax (makers of TAS) has a partnership with Rational.
In addition, the software is reliable, can be administered via a web
front-end, and has increased our performance. Just some general tips. Hope
this helps.

Bart
