[cciug] samba cleartext problem

CCIUGers,

We have a problem with our interop setup. We are running NT views to Unix VOBs,
with samba as the interop service. Users are finding that files disappear when
they check them out, and are inaccessible once the checkout is cancelled.

What appears to be happening is that the view server is causing the cleartext
file to be deleted from the VOB cleartext pool during the checkout. It then
fails to copy the file to the view storage, resulting in the file being "checked
out but deleted". You can cancel the checkout and the file reappears, but it
can't be opened anymore. cleartool dump then reports a cleartext object that
doesn't exist.

I'm pretty certain that this is related to samba, because we then used view
storage on a PC with Hummingbird installed, and it worked perfectly OK. Any
ideas?
