Backup the entire contents of /var/adm/atria directory tree.

There is no point in trying to backup and restore all
the ClearCase application files. It's much easier
and more reliable to simply re-install.

If the machine in question is not the registry server or
license server, but is just a client, all you need to
do is re-create the release area (if it was destroyed)
and then install from the release area. Let the
installer find and remove all the old ClearCase files.

If this was a registry server, then also restore the files
in /var/adm/atria/rgy from backup.

If this was a license server, then also restore the
file /var/adm/atria/license.db from backup.

That should do it for ClearCase. If you also have Multisite
or ClearGuide, someone else will have to help with that.

| Hi,
|
| What are the files that ClearCase 3.2.1 really need to back up? I know the
how to do the lock-backup-unlock dance on VOB. What I want to know is what are
the files that are needed to restore the application itself. Today, someone
mess up the ClearCase software and the MVFS is not showing anymore with
cleartool -ver. I thought I can restore the files from /usr/atria/*,
/var/adm/atria/rgy/*, /var/adm/atria/config/*, /var/adm/atria/*.db,
/usr/adm/atria/host.dat, and /usr/atria/etc/atria_start.

| Can anyone tell me what files are needed backing up in case the release_area
and Rational got nuked!
