This is for those of you who have already upgraded to 4.0:
I want to make sure to do this the right way. I support several groups
working on (obviously) several projects, so I can't do a wholesale
upgrade in a weekend. I need to wait for a window of opportunity for
each group.
As I currently understand the upgrade process to 4.0, one upgrades the
machines in the following order:
1. Registry/license server(s)
2. Vob server(s)
3. View server(s)
4. Client boxes
I have been told that upgrading the registry server will be no issue,
even if it is my license server, too. My concern now is: what about the
new Job Scheduler? How will this affect things on the registry server?
As I understand things, only if I have cronjobs currently scheduled on
my registry server will this be a problem.
Does anyone see any reason that I need to do all the machines in one
weekend? I plan on upgrading the registry server within two weeks or so,
and the first VOB server will follow within two weeks of that. However,
the view server(s) and any clients will be (potentially) a few months
later.
comments?
Gotchas?
Thanks,
Scott
