RE: [cciug] Unix - NT interop with samba

I finally found the problem, which occurred using Hummingbird Maestro as well as
samba. The VOBs were mounted on a Solaris machine, with a hostname of ergdev4.
However, it's name in DNS was auperaclr03, due to some naming conventions
dictated by our IT dept. When I imported the Unix VOB into the Windows region, I
replaced all references to ergdev4 with auperaclr03, so as far as I can tell,
the Windows processes should only refer to the Unix box as auperaclr03. However,
this doesn't seem to be the case - I had to add ergdev4 to the DNS table in
order to get access to my VOBs.

It would appear that some process in Windows tries to access the Unix VOB using
the host name from the Unix region, rather than the host name defined in the
Windows region. Rational support did not seem to be aware of this problem.
