Summary: The CM Engineer will work with the development, QA and Operations
Team to secure all source code and build Internet applications written in
Java, C/C++ and numerous web based technologies (e.g. JavaScript, HTML
etc.). The successful candidate will enjoy working in an exciting Team
environment with leading edge internet technology (i.e. Marimba,
Netdynamics, WebLogic). An interest and commitment to Software Process and
Quality are essential for this position as are excellent technical
troubleshooting skills and a determination to successfully deploy
applications on the World Wide Web.

Here is a more detailed description of the position:

        CM Engineer (2):

        The CM Engineer works with the entire Clearnet organization to
secure, package and promote all components Clearnet applications. This
position involves a significant role in supporting (and troubleshooting)
development tools, systems environments (Unix/NT) and the applications
themselves. The successful candidate should enjoy a challenging technical
environment with shifting priorities and considerable interaction with all
members of the Clearnet organization.

        Required technical skills:
        Successful candidate would have 1 - 3 years experience on a Unix
platform.

        Desirable skills would include knowledge of a Source Code Management
tools (e.g. Clearcase, PVCS, True Software, Continuus, SCCS, RCS),
C/C++/Java, Perl, K-Shell, Unix or NT Systems administration experience,
Release Management or systems integration.

        Tasks:
        Support the build and release management of Clearnet applications on
Unix and NT platforms using a number of development tools (e.g. Java, C++,
Marimba etc.)

        Troubleshoot application problems.

        Use automated test tools and support testing effort.

        Support and troubleshoot problems with Clearcase and related tools
and technologies

        Work with SAs, DBAs, Developers, QA and Integration to support and
troubleshoot environment problems with Unix and NT.

        Work with SAs, DBAs, Developers, QA and Integration to provide clean
deployment of applications to Clearnet Integration environment.

        Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs).

        Knowledge of software development tools (Java, C++ compilers,
Makefiles) and procedures necessary to build, release and troubleshoot
Clearnet applications.

        Knowledge of Unix/NT Systems administration procedures to
troubleshoot supporting tools and applications. (Most "Clearcase" problems
are Sys Admin related and involve environmental problems.)

        Knowledge of Software development methodologies and application
architecture.

        Skills in verbal and written communication necessary to communicate
procedures and requirements necessary to support promotion process and
troubleshoot applications.

        Skills in application and systems troubleshooting necessary to
support application and related tools.

        Ability to negotiate with SAs, DBAs, Developers and Integration to
resolve disputes, identify needed process improvements.

        Ability to think of the big picture in supporting the Clearnet
application business. This should include working with the entire
organization to help development quality applications and support the
financial service that Bear Stearns is engaged.
