Try the PDF document I'm attaching. Unforunately there are not many books on make,
at least not as many as on more "popular" subjects. But here are some references:

             1. Two book from O'Reilly ("Managing SOftware Projects with 'make'", I think that's
the name, and also Software Portability with 'imake'.)
             2. You can also download GNU make manual from www.gnu.org

As far as training, I've never heared of "make only" classes. Make, and software
configuration management in general, is something most of the people consider boring.
That's the only way I can explain the lack of such litrature and training.

             Good luck.
