Haven't implemented the upgrade to 4.0 from 3.2.1 yet. I've been preparing
the plan for doing that. As a result it is my understanding that a replica
that is on a 4.0 VOB server can't synchronize successfully with one that is
on a 3.2.1 VOB server. Our plan is to upgrade our Unix VOB and View servers
at our two sites at the same time, opening up the new scheduling process for
synchronization once all four are up and well. For Multisite, it is only
the VOB servers that need to be up and in good shape -- there are other
reasons we keep our view servers at the two sites in parallel. The new
scheduling mechanism doesn't use cron directly. I haven't looked under the
hood at it, but it seems like something worth looking at.
