Also make sure that when you "telnet rgyhost" from the affected
machine you actually get a connection to that machine. We had
some fun and games with our application at a customer site, when
we found that the host tables were hosed up, and while the
connections opened, they got a different machine than what was
expected (this was particularly screwy when telnet `hostname`
yielded a machine differnet from the one it was invoked on).
