Another recommendation: use NIS for your passwd and group
files. That way

- all uid's and groups will be available
on all machines and you won't have to worry about how
    to set up individual servers.
- you won't have to update all those /etc/passwd and
/etc/group files every time someone leaves or is hired.
- you will have a single set of uid's and gid's, and won't
be able to create duplicate uids for different lognames
    by accident on different machines.
- it will be easier if you should need to move files or
engineers around from one system to another.
- you can easily expand your installation, adding ClearCase
    to more machines.

This is assuming, of course, that your shop is a UNIX shop. If
you have one UNIX machine for a license server and everything
else, including registry servers, are NT, then I don't know
the answer.

| Hi...
|
| CC users.
|
| We are going to gather all licenses on just one machine(about 100 licenses).
The license server will be 'SUN Ultra 1'.
| We are also planning to set up one registry server for each project. I am not
sure how to set up uid and gid on the license server.
| All uid and gid on registry servers exist on the license server? Any other
side effect that you have seen?
|
| Any other recommendation will be appreciated.
