Bridgett,

The "component" in this version of UCM really equates to the root of the
VOB, are you saying that
you cd into the component, you cannot do a mkdir or mkelem ?, the component
needs to be modifiable in
the project, as UCM projects can have components(Source VOB) that are read
only for building or doc or whatever.

A describe long of the component should reflect the VOB path it is
using(sorry for the Windows Output :-):

>cleartool desc -l component:Visual_Basic
component "Visual_Basic"

  owner: bickford
  group: user
  Hyperlinks:
    ComponentRootDir@107@\Visual_Basic -> M:\home\Visual_Basic\.@@

and then make sure it is indicated to be modifiable for your project:

>cleartool lsproject -l CAL_Demo_04958
project "CAL_Demo_04958"
 10-Dec-99.23:38:07 by bickford.user@KERBEROS
  owner: bickford
  group: user
  folder: New_Folder_04824
  title: CAL_Demo
  integration stream: Integration_04958
  development streams:
    Integration_04958
    bickford_CAL_Demo_05082
  modifiable components:
    Visual_Basic<----------------------------------------------------
  default rebase promotion level: INITIAL
  recommended baselines:
    Visual_Basic_INITIAL.105 (Visual_Basic)

Hope this helps .....

Subject: [cciug] v4.0--Component dir in pvob

Hi-
In ClearCase 4.0 (UNIX) has anyone had problems trying to add dirs. to the
"component" dir. of a pvob? I can only see it in the project explorer.

I followed everything in the bk. about creating a new project but, can't get
to
this phantom Component dir.

I've already e-mailed & called Rational tech support and have yet to hear
anything back.

Thanks in advance!!
