[cciug] Problem doing grep on large number of files

CCIUG,

Our users are have periodic problem performing grep's on source code. We use
codewrite as our standard NT editor, and it provides a built in grep capability.
When the users perform a grep on a directory that contains a large number of
files (~1070) they get this message "Can't open file <filename>". Has anyone
else experienced this problem ? The file is there and can be accessed.

Any possible solutions/causes would be greatly appreciated.

Our configuration is :

ClearCase version 3.2.1 (Thu Oct 1 08:51:50 1998)
clearcase patch p3.2.1.NT-14 (Thu Dec 17 09:26:19 1998)
clearcase patch p3.2.1.NT-15 (Thu Dec 17 11:23:09 1998)

cleartool version 3.2.1+ (Wed Dec 16 12:45:14 1998)

Vobs are on a Unix Server Solaris 2.6

We are using Samba 2.0.5a for interop.
