AW: AW: [cciug] User-ID in CC 4.0

Actually, I installed CC 4.0 on that machine and created the VOB under 4.0.
But - in the same network region we have our 3.2.1 server. So the 4.0
machine sees both kind of VOBs. This led to error messages like

"01/20/00 12:11:52 view_server(2815): Error: Unexpected error in VOB
"caesar:/exports/vobstore/transfer.vbs" op vob_ob_register_replica
(ac47337e.c9b911d3.
fab7.00:02:07:53:81:4c):incompatible versions of ClearCase software and/or
databases
See vobrpc_server_log on host caesar"

... and because of that the performance was very low of course. (No problems
like this on the 3.2.1 server.) So we will have to split our network regions
into two, one for each CC version.

Thanks anyway
Bernd

Glad to hear that your problem has been resolved. At this time I don't know
why "pwget" could succede and our analogous code fail (both use getpwuid()).

A final comment. It sounded like you're going to try to have a v4.0 system
access a VOB on v3.x. That won't work. The standard ClearCase backward
story is that old major release clients (e.g., v3.x) can talk to new major
release servers (e.g., v4.x) but not vice versa.
