It depends, but certainly it can in some situations.

If your binaries don't change much between versions, go for
binary_delta_file. If they change a lot, go for compressed_file.

My personal default is binary_delta_file, unless I see a particular factor
against it. (compressed_file is much like Gzipping every version--but why
not use the extras you paid for when you bought Clearcase?)
