Hi all,

I want to move from our NT based clearcase server with NT clients environment to a UNIX clearcase server with NT clients environment. I want to store the VOBs on the UNIX server but the dynamic views locally on the NT clients. I hope this is possible.

So I need to give my manager a spec for a suitable UNIX machine. Our requirements are:

1. up to 50 users.
2. Currently no Multisite but maybe in the future. We may need to work with a site in the US which will probably have an NT only setup
3. The VOB/View storage area is currently 6.5GB. Assume that may double eventually.
4. We have 10Mb Ethernet

I hope that's enough to spec the machine !

I have already obtained a quote for a used Sun UltraSPARC2 1200, 200MHz, 448 MB RAM, 25GB HD. Does this spec sound about right based on the requirements above ?

I would prefer Sun as I get the impression that there is more Sun users out there than most other makes of UNIX machine. Any opinions on that ?

Regards

Navjeet Swatch
