[cciug] View server performance

Recently I have started to monitor the view_server performance. I have
noticed that
on our system, when the process exceeds the 10M limit (our server is more
than adequate)
it starts to really slow down.

To combat this situation, I end the view_server process and then restart it.
This reduces
it's memory usage by roughly 40% and the view then operates at expected
performance levels.

Does this indicate a memory leakage? Why does memory usage drop by 40% upon
a restart?
Why does this significantly reduce performance? Are there
monitoring/report/fix tools
for this kind of problem?

Many thanks,

Alex.
