It's probably academic now (I assume you had no Y2K failures :-)) but you
should _always_ lock the VOB to _all_ users before doing backups. Apart
from preventing users from making changes, the act of locking the VOB flushes
the databases to disk.
All of this can be found in the "ClearCase Administrator's Manual".
