Hi Sachin,
Yes, you can access unix vobs on NT by importing them to your NT machine.
1) You should have a different region for unix and NT machines.
2) Install any NFS s/w on NT (Ex. Humming Bird NFS solo).
Rational recommends three companies. Details given in their manual.
3) Complete the required configuration for NFS (Ex. For humming bird you
need to configure your NIS server, domain and it expects pcnfsd to be
running in your unix machine from whose shares need to be mounted on unix.
Also you have to register your unix account in NFS).
4) Use clearcase region synchronizer and import unix vobs to NT region.
(This just creates the tags for unix vobs into NT region).
5) Mount the unix vobs.
6) Create a view in NT with "-tmode msdos" option. This option is to convert
unix new line characters in unix files to <CR> <NL> as expected by windows.
7) Start the view and access the unix vob mounted.
(Do not import unix views for accessing imported vobs. Better create separately on
NT machine. You can duplicate your unix view's config_spec here).
Note: "Unix to NT inter-operability" manual from Rational explains all my items in detail.
Regards,
GK

Subject: [cciug] Accessing VOBS on unix through Clearcase client on Windows NT

Hi!
We have a configuration in which some group members are using Clearcase on Unix
and some are using Clearcase on Windows NT. We have seperate Licenses for the
two.
Recently the people working on NT need to use the unix VOBS. Is it possible to
use
them from NT ?? (except from switching to the unix registry server and registry
region)

Thanks in advance
Sachin
