About the PowerPC 970FX Evaluation Kit

The information in this download package is intended for:

  • Software engineers interested in developing boot firmware, operating system, or application code for a PowerPC 970FX-based board. The source code illustrates how to initialize and utilize various features of the processor (caches, timers, memory management unit, interrupts, and debugging features). An application note is included that outlines the steps required to obtain and build a GNU cross compiler for PowerPC code development.
  • Hardware engineers interested in designing a custom PowerPC 970FX board. The board schematics provide an example of how to connect the processor to a system controller (bridge) chip and other components in the system.
