About the guest  Professor Andrew McGettrick is an instructor in computer systems, high integrity systems, and software construction at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. His research interests include software engineering — particularly, formal methods in support of critical safety systems, the use of computers in support of teaching and learning, and quality issues in higher education. He holds a doctorate in pure mathematics (Number Theory) from Cambridge (Peterhouse College). He has organized a conference on the crisis in computer science education and is the author of a forthcoming study on the subject.
