Scott Ambler, IBM Rational® Agile Development practice lead, explains Agile development this way: "An iterative and incremental (evolutionary) approach performed in a highly collaborative manner with 'just enough' ceremony that produces high quality software in a cost effective and timely manner which meets the changing needs of its stakeholders." In this 20-minute podcast, Ambler explains what Agile development means, and look at why it is increasingly relevant and experiencing rapid adoption. He contrasts it with more traditional software development methods and dispels a number of common myths.

About the guest  Scott Ambler is the practice leader Agile Development at IBM. He works
in the IBM Methods group developing process materials and travels the world
helping clients understand and adopt the software processes which are right
for them. He is an award-winning author of several books, including books
focused on the Unified Process, agile software development, the Unified
Modeling Language, and CMM-based development. He is a regular speaker at
international IT conferences and is a contributing editor with Dr. Dobb’s
Journal. Prior to working for IBM, he led the development of several
software processes, including Agile
Modeling (AM), Agile Data (AD), Enterprise Unified Process (EUP), and
Agile Unified Process
(AUP) methodologies. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science and a master's
in information science from the University of Toronto.
