Explanation for re-engineering of Extended Enterprise application patterns
Relation to existing Extended Enterprise patterns:
| New Pattern Name | Old Pattern Name |
|---|---|
Exposed Direct Connection
|
Document Exchange |
Exposed Direct Connection
|
Exposed Application |
Exposed Broker
|
Exposed Business Service |
Exposed Serial Process
|
Managed Public Process |
| PI + EE Composite Pattern | Managed Public & Private Process |
The Extended Enterprise patterns have been re-engineered because:
- There was no fundamental topological difference between intra-enterprise and inter-enterprise patterns
- Adding a single adjective ‘Exposed’ to the Process Integration patterns offered great simplicity and power
- The 5th pattern was seen to be a composite of an EE and PI pattern
The retired Extended Enterprise patterns can be found in a zip on the Resource page. Download (ZIP, 1235KB)
