Rational ClearCase®, Rational Software Analyzer, and Rational Build Forge can help solve application deployment problems that many companies face today.
Audience
Software developers, integrators, build managers, and project managers.
Duration
2 hours for virtual events
Details
Due to large scale, complex and distributed development projects, companies today face major challenges addressing application deployment. Unaddressed, these challenges can have significant business impact. Deployment errors result in roll-backs and unplanned down-time of business critical applications. The inability to ensure the test environment matches production results in quality problems and slow problem resolution. In turn, these problems lead to lost productivity, customer dissatisfaction, and lost revenue.
This briefing steps through the creation of a new project release.
- A release
record is created, roles that will participate in the project are determined,
and people are assigned to those roles.
- Test environments are created
and assets (i.e. artifacts) that constitute the content of the release are
tracked through its entrance and successful exit from the test environments.
- A defect is discovered and
reported by the test team. The project manager assigns the defect to a developer who fixes it then checks his work-stream back in.
- The build engineer compiles the application and deploys it for a final test.
See how these products are used to perform the above scenario:
Finally, concepts such as Unified Change Management (UCM) and continuous integration are covered, along with an introduction and discussion of Rational Team Concert and how it enables communication and collaboration.
Virtual briefings
Virtual briefings are presented online using Saba Centra. These sessions replicate a typical classroom with a complete set of features for highly interactive, effective group learning - bringing together voice, video, data and graphics in a structured online learning environment. Sessions are instructor-led and provide an opportunity for you to ask questions. Each event is divided into two separate sessions lasting approximately 2 hours in length. All you need is a Web browser to attend.
Note: Registration is not required. You can log in up to 30 minutes before the session starts.
