This demo provides an overview of the Unified Profile for DoDAF and
MoDAF (UPDM), and how to use Rational Rhapsody to create various UPDM views. The goal of UPDM is to create an industry standard approach
for military frameworks. Part 1 of this demo covers the AV, or all views. These include the
strategic, operational and service-orientated views. Part 2
covers other UPDM views, such as the system view.

About the authors | | | Dr. Graham Bleakley originally studied Mechanical Engineering at Southbank University, this was followed by a PhD in Model Based Systems Engineering and Process for Safety Critical Systems at City University. After going back to Southbank University for 2 years to run and teach the Computer Aided Engineering degree, he left and joined I-Logix in 2000, working as an Application Engineer/Consultant with companies such as BAE, Thales,Selex, MBDA and Alcatel. He has written and presented a number of technical papers at INCOSE as well for other publications on the themes of Model Based Systems Engineering. He is currently a principal consultant in IBM Rational where, when not consulting, he works on Model Based System Engineering Process definition and Architectural Frameworks, being one of the lead architects on the OMG UPDM submission. |
| | | Adrian Whitfield received an honors degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
at Brunel University in 1990. He spent 5 years working in Systems Engineering at G.E.C
Marconi Radar before joining Telelogic (formerly I-Logix Inc.) as a Technical
Consultant. During his time as a technical consultant he has delivered consulting,
mentoring and training to a number of Aeropspace/Defense companies including long term engagements with Boeing and Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Currently he is the Market Manager with IBM Rational, formerly Telelogic, where he is manages how the Rational modeling product portfolio can be best used within the System Engineering domain and Aerospace & Defense industry.
