About the workshop
The authors of the WS-Metadata Exchange (WS-MeX) specifications and WSO2 are hosting a three-day Interoperability Workshop on April 10-12, 2007, in Auburn, California, USA. This workshop is open to anyone who wants to participate and has an application that complies with the Metadata Exchange specification.
This Interop Workshop is a session where developers and all interested parties can attend an ad-hoc, open-forum, participant-led event focused on giving developers who are implementing the WS-Metadata Exchange specification (published in August 2006; see Workshop materials) a chance to test their code with other companies' implementations.
Note that in order to attend this event, each attendee must review and sign a feedback agreement either before or at the workshop event. The purpose of the feedback agreement is to ensure that everyone involved in influencing the specifications is committed to keeping the specification royalty-free.
Attendees should bring their own laptops, implementations, and any other tools needed. The event includes a set of scenarios to be used as the basis for the interoperability (see Resources) testing.
This workshop is 9:00am – 5:00pm each day in the Executive Boardroom at the Holiday Inn in Auburn, California (see Workshop location details). Continental breakfast, lunch, and morning and afternoon coffee service will be provided. Participants are responsible for their own dinner arrangements. Please make any special dietary requirements known in advance; every effort will be made to accommodate them. There is no fee associated with this event, but any travel expenses are the responsibility of the attendee.
As with previous workshops, these events are open to anyone who wants to participate and can bring an implementation based on the WS-Metadata Exchange specification.
If you are interested in participating, reply to jonathan@wso2.com and provide the following information:
- Your name
- The full name of the company that you represent (for example, International Business Machines instead of the abbreviated IBM)
- The name of the implementation or product that you will bring to the test. (If confidential, do not provide.)
- Any dietary restrictions
You also need to fax a signed feedback agreement to Mike Kaiser at (845) 489-9958. All Interoperability Workshop attendees are required to provide a signed copy before participating in the event.
Feel free to share this invitation, either within your company or outside. This is an open forum. No invitation is required, but the event host (WSO2) would appreciate a response on or before April 3, 2007, to facilitate accurate logistics planning. The list of attendees and general workshop results will be available after the workshop.
Thank you for your interest, and we look forward to your participation.

Traveling to Auburn
The nearest significant airport is Sacramento International Airport (SMF) about 45 minutes away. A small and convenient airport, SMF is served regularly from major airports on the West coast (SFO about 2 hours away, SJC about 2.5 miles away, LAX, SEA) and from major airports eastward (ORD, DEN).
Rental car information
A rental car usually costs less and is more convenient than shuttle service. A shuttle bus between SMF and Auburn is about $65USD each way.
Outside of each terminal are shuttle and bus stations. Wait under the blue Rental Car sign for a short shuttle ride to the rental car terminal where several of the major car rental chains have counters.
Auburn hotel information
Housing accommodations are the responsibility of the attendee. The following are possibilities, not recommendations; many other alternatives are available.

Fifteen rooms have been reserved at the special rate of $104USD per night. To get this rate, mention the room block for the “WS-Metadata Exchange Workshop” before March 10th to get this rate. Reservations are available at (530) 887-8787 or (800) 465-4329.
