ALPHAWORKS TECHNOLOGY SPOTLIGHT: XML Integrator
XML Integrator (XI) is a tool for bi-directional data conversion between XML and structured data formats such as relational or LDAP data. This tool externalizes the specification of the mapping between XML and relational databases, and it replaces the programming effort by the simpler effort of writing a script that describes the relationships between the XML constructs and the corresponding RDBMS constructs. XI can be used as a stand-alone utility, or it can be integrated as a library in other applications.

IBM Lightweight Services
IBM Lightweight Services (LWS) is a J2EE (Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition) application that provides an event-driven hosting environment for lightweight services. Lightweight services are persistent, transactional, server-side programs developed in lightweight programming languages such as JavaScript and Python. Developers of these services have high-level, extensible access to IBM middleware, enabling services that communicate via Web services, Sametime instant messaging, and high-performance publish/subscribe. The LWS development tools, paired with a flexible deployment and administration model, allow rapid composition, installation, instantiation, and debugging of server-side applications.

Voice Portal
Voice Portal provides mobile employees with telephone-based voice access to enterprise messaging systems, corporate business information, and productivity tools. The tools that are provided allow building of applications that enable access to corporate business information, such as product inventory and delivery schedules, and productivity tools, such as address books and calendars. Such voice tools make information much more accessible. Built on IBM's WebSphere Portal capability, this technology preview allows developers and ISVs to extend their existing GUI-based Web portals for voice accessibility and to create new voice portlets.

PortingManager
PortingManager is a tool that provides assistance when porting C and C++ Solaris applications to Linux platforms, including zSeries Linux. It includes a GUI that displays a work area window where the user selects a source code directory tree to scan. PortingManager will then scan the source code and automatically identify Solaris APIs that may be incompatible with Linux. It provides Linux solutions for these incompatibilities, either in the form of API replacements or suggested work-arounds using coding examples.

XML Parser for Java
Improvements to XML Parser for Java Version 4.0.5 include flexible, modular architecture added to the former stability and standards compliance. Version 4.0.5 is nearly a complete rewriting of Version 3.2.1.

KeyMan
Improvements to KeyMan include support for certificate extensions: subjectAlternativeName, basicConstraints, extKeyUsage, keyUsage. Values can be specified during certificate generation.

XML for C++
Improvements to XML for C++ Version 5.0 include 64-bit binaries distribution, grammar pre-parsing and grammar caching, experimental DOM Level 3, and Unix shared library naming convention. Support for ICU 2.2 is also included, along with many other fixes.

EADP for VA Java
EADP for VA Java now supports content management, rich text, multimedia, and
operation in a clustered WebSphere environment.

JROM
Improvements to JROM include new XML Schema-aware XML/JROM converters; XML/JROM conversion can occur indendependant of Apache SOAP serializer. The Axis Serializer has also been updated for Axis1.0rc.

Location Transponder
Improvements to Location Transponder include improved console output, including display of configuration parameters and number of missed deadlines, improved documentation, including screen shot in installation instructions, and a minor improvement to the launch script.

ECT for Linux
Improvements to ECT for Linux include new csm.ect 1.2.0 RPM, which includes the following commands: xcat2csm, rinv, rvitals, rsacron, and reventlog.

Performance Trace Data Visualizer (PTDV)
The new version of PTDV supports collections generated on OS/400 versions V4R5 through V5R2.

Thin-Client Framework
Thin-Client Framework now contains a step-by-step workshop with source code answers. It is useful with branch banking renewal, as a replacement for HTML or C#, and with jump-starts on MVC for the client.

LICENSABLE TECHNOLOGIES - Request to license any of the following technologies!
*TSpaces
A set of network communication buffers called tuple spaces and a set of APIs (and classes that implement the API) for accessing those buffers. TSpaces allows heterogeneous, Java-enabled devices to exchange data with little programming effort. The package includes server software that implements the buffers and client software for accessing the buffers.
