Bilog: Amazing Clients and Reporting FAQs from Pulse 2012 Conference 8,000 individuals from around the world gathered at IBM's Pulse 2012 conference the first week of March. It was an exciting, energetic conference where information and best practices were exchanged among clients, business partners and IBMers. Numerous technical and client sessions were held on Maximo including Upgrades, Integration, Archiving, Mobility and Industry Solutions. Additionally, numerous 'Meet the Expert' Sessions were held on Implementations and System Tuning, Scripting, Planning and Scheduling. Throughout the week, there were numerous highlights on reporting. One of the key highlights was a client presentation done by Jason Verly from Davisco Foods and Howard Springston from Ford. Jason and Howard shown here detailed how they implemented reporting in their unique environments. Jason focused on how they used Ad Hoc Reporting at Davisco, including how they trained their users on the functionality, and how to exploit the use of the Maximo where clause. Howard, and their Business Partner Sunil Kamerkar, detailed Ford's reporting strategy to streamline and consolidate report development and showed a wide range of Operational BIRT reports used within Ford. Jason and Howard did a great job in sharing their best practices with other clients in this very heavily attended presentation! Other highlights on reporting included a detailed session on Features of BIRT and Cognos reporting, along with Best Practice Information, and a Meet the Expert Sessions. Additionally, one of the
highlights of Pulse is working in the Maximo Solution Expo. Within the
Expo, business partners and clients stop by and ask a wide range of questions. It is always
great to see so many familiar faces stop by year after year, along with
new faces eager to learn about the latest functionality.
A wide range of reporting questions were asked in the Maximo Solution Expo, including detailed questions on BIRT and Cognos Reporting. The most heavily asked question was on our reporting strategy, and what our plans were for the future. I continued to emphasize that Maximo will continue with our Open Reporting Architecture, where we enable and encourage you to use your reporting tool of choice. We plan on continue to enhance all features of that architecture - including enhancements that our clients prioritize for both the BIRT and Cognos reporting tools. You can see this and other frequently asked reporting questions from the Pulse 2012 conference at this page. Also, a YouTube Video of the condensed 'Maximo Version 7 Reporting Features and Best Practices' presentation can be accessed here. Thank you very much to all clients that I was able to see, and had the chance to stop by the Solution Expo. For others, I hope to hear from you, and to see you next year at Pulse 2013! |
