I drive a 2006 Silver Honda Pilot. While that may be meaningless to many, my words did generate laughter at the Honda Plant in Marysville, Ohio on Tuesday, May 22nd. I was fortunate to be at the Honda Plant, who was hosting nearly 100 Clients, Business Partners and IBMers for the Maximo Manufacturing User Group Meeting.
Honda was an amazing host for the User Group meeting, and started the day by welcoming us to their facility, which will be celebrating its 30th anniversary later this year. Honda kicked off the conference with presentations from a variety of individuals within all levels of their organization. Each enthusiastically talked about maintenance management, and production inefficiencies caused by poor asset management. With TPM, Total Productive Maintenance, as their driving force, a goal of all Honda employees is to be part of a team who continuously strive for process improvement. One of their key metrics is to measure Maximo Utilization within their plants, which is being driven from the highest levels of their business plans. One of my favorite quotes from their presentations was ‘We measure a good day not by the number of cars we make…but by our MTTR and MTBF’.
Other presentations at the conference included:
One of the key benefits of the day was the networking and interaction among the clients, business partners and IBMers. These interactions are great in not only sharing success stories – but also in sharing issues and brainstorming ideas together.
I hope you can make it to the next Maximo User Group – whether it is specific to your industry or region – so you can also share and hear from others. And if not, please be sure to join our Service Management Connect (SMC) Asset Management Virtual Community. At nearly 400 members – it is an excellent way to connect virtually with your fellow users!
