How to prevent the asset/location from automatically populating in Work Order and Ticket based applications when entering one or the other

    QiupingMao 270002GCBJ | | Comments (3) | Visits (2086)

Maximo has a feature where the system automatically populates the asset when a user enters a location or populates the location when a user enters an asset in the ticket or work order based applications. This is a feature most clients wanted, but there are some clients, who don’t want to use this feature. Instead they want to disable this feature, but currently Maximo does not have a built in switch to disable that. The following is a work around solution which can disable this feature by using Maximo’s Cross Over Domains. First we ... [More]

Straw, Sticks, or Bricks ?What's your EAM house made?

    MarkBengis 270001TC00 | | Visits (1109)

So whats more important, what you build you house of or what your build your house on ? I think most would agree that a strong foundation gives any superstructure the best chance of staying up over the long haul. If an EAM's foundation is made of blocks, then those blocks would be constructed of DATA. Maximo is a great EAM system and people build great processes using Maximo, however, without data ( or good data) the benefits are never fully realized. Worse yet, if the data is not properly maintained then the system will... [More]

Excuse me….can you toss me a life line?  These words gushed out of my mouth as we biked up the steep summit of Champlain Mountain in Acadia National Park in the blistering July heat.  But with my family well in the distance…my words were soon lost amongst the magnificent trees and rocks surrounding me. However, your words and feedback on Maximo reporting are not lost.   You have continually requested more information on functionality, best practices and customizations - - and we are continuing to build up that information for you.    Recently,... Extending Drilldown Limit in Maximo

    Sudireddy 270000C2SH | | Visits (1708)

Recently there are some requests for information on, how to increase the Drilldown limit in Maximo and I have created this document that explains how to do that.   Drilldown Limit can be changed in two ways in Maximo, one is global level that effects for system and another way is by modifying the value (overriding the global value) for the tree control of the specific Drilldown. You can review the  Drilldown Limit or https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/wikis/display/maximo/Drilldown+Limit+in+Maximo

How to zero inventory year to date quantities

    SarikaB 270000KHD7 | | Visits (1154)

It happens all too often, we lose track of time and we sometimes forget to do some important task.  Commonly heard:  "I forgot to get milk!" or "Did you remember to pick up the dry cleaning?" or "It's January 15th!  I was supposed to zero out Maximo's inventory balances on January 1st!"  The last one might not come up in your day to day lives, but for a Maximo inventory manager it is something that surely has happened (or will).  The Zero Year to Date Quantities action is used to reset the counter of inventory... Preparing for a successful installation for WebSphere 8 with Maximo 7.5.0.2

    Rich_Goyette 270000MW0N | | Visits (2128)

Here's a nice trick question for you: when does 4+4+1 = 8? In this case, the answer is the number of downloadable files you need to complete an installation of WebSphere 8 when you plan to deploy Maximo 7.5.0.2 using WebSphere 8 as it's underlying J2EE Application Server.   If you are planning a deployment of Maximo 7.5.0.2 on top of WebSphere 8 you will discover that the installation engine has changed from previous versions of WebSphere and that the downloadable files required to properly construct an installation source have also changed in...
