Domino, Powered by Notes (sidebar)

We have chosen to retain the use of the word Notes in most cases within this paper, both for familiarity and because Notes more accurately refers to the system's architecture, while Domino is rightly applied to server-side products and features.

Domino incorporates classic Notes server, security and network management as well as full HTTP protocol support. Domino is a paradigmatic case of architectural adaptability. While completely "Notes-compatible," Domino is also a fully standard, Java-compliant, Web server. Domino's seamless integration with Notes enables interactive, dynamic document publishing for display in any of the major browsers.

In turn, Notes refers both to the architecture and to the client-side product set, including the standard set of application templates (mail, Calendar and Scheduling, and others) and the integrated development environment.
