This page is the 'homepage' of the Linux on System z System Loader (sysload).

Introduction

System Loader uses a minimal RAM disk based Linux system to run a boot loader application and kexec to boot the final Linux system.
Within the boot loader application all capabilities provided by the kernel can be used to select and access a kernel image and other boot files or to start a shell and use it as a rescue system.

For Linux on System z, zipl from s390-tools is required as a first stage boot loader.
