The results shown in the chart below were generated with
a CPU intensive server-side Java workload. The chart shows
the improvement based on the System z9 hardware and the J2SE
1.4.2 kit. The higher CPU clock speed of a System z9 can be
directly used to achieve a higher throughput in the range
of 40% (left diagram).
The J2SE version 5.0comes with an improved virtual machine
and JIT compiler. The server-side Java workload shows a 20%
higher throughput with this version (right diagram).
