There are currently three recommended kernel 2.4 "streams"
available on developerWorks.
"June 2003
stream"
The "June 2003 stream" has the most functionality of all kernel 2.4
streams. It introduces support for several new hardware features of
the IBM z990 systems and consists of:
kernel 2.4.21 (with integrated "Order-2 allocation relief"
patch and separate "On-demand timer" patch)
OCO modules: none
tape_3590 OCO module replaced by open source 3590 tape device driver discipline in May 2006.
lcs, qdio, qeth, and z90crypt provided as part of kernel-patch.
No special OCO modules required for "On-demand timer" and "Order-2 allocation relief".
"May 2002
stream" (superseded by "June 2003 stream")
The "May 2002 stream" introduced support for new hardware features
of the IBM z900 and z800 systems and consists of:
kernel 2.4.19 (with integrated "Order-2 allocation relief"
patch and separate "On-demand timer" patch)
OCO modules: qeth, tape_3590_mod
z90crypt, lcs, and qdio provided as part of kernel-patch.
No special OCO modules required for "On-demand timer" and "Order-2
allocation relief".
