Description:
This new feature enables the 3590 tape device driver to use the encryption support of 3592 channel attached tape drives.

kernel (new function): Character device driver for writing z/VM monitor records.
Description:
This feature provides an interface which allows applications to write application-specific monitor data (APPLDATA) to the z/VM monitor stream.

kernel (new function): Hypervisor filesystem "s390_hypfs" for z/VM.
Description:
This is an extension of the already existing hypfs for LPAR (DIAG 204). Data returned by DIAG 2FC is exported using the s390_hypfs when Linux is running under z/VM. Information about CPUs and memory is provided. Data is put into different virtual files which can be accessed from user space. All values are represented as ASCII strings.
Summary:
networking (new function): AF_IUCV protocol support for Linux on System z.
Description:
AF_IUCV support allows for IUCV communication via the BSD socket interface. The AF_IUCV protocol supports communication with z/VM back-end services. It connects socket applications operating in Linux kernels running on different VM user IDs, or connects a Linux application to another sockets application running in a VM guest.
Summary:
zfcp (new function): Add FCP adapter statistics.
Description:
This item allows users to read statistics about resource usage within an FCP channel or an FCP subchannel respectively.
Statistics for an FCP subchannel (or virtual HBA) include:
  • number of input, output and control requests; number of bytes sent and received; seconds since activation.

Statistics for an FCP channel (or physical HBA) include:
  • processor, bus and adapter utilization.

Everybody should apply this patch.
